Sebastian Hanss-Mirodone
Sebastian is a Research Assistant at the Net Zero Lab at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich. His work focuses on carbon markets, carbon credits, CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage), and carbon removal technologies.
Sebastian is currently pursuing an M.Sc. in Sustainable Management and Technology at the Technical University of Munich, with a major in Biotechnology and Material Science. During his studies, he spent a semester abroad at NHH Bergen. He holds a B.Sc. in Sustainability Economics from Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg, where he specialized in resource economics and environmental policy.
Before joining the Net Zero Lab, Sebastian worked in the field of carbon management. At the German Association for Negative Emissions (DVNE), he co-authored a joint report with BCG on the economic potential of carbon dioxide removal and advocated for the growing carbon removal & capture ecosystem toward German policymakers. His previous roles include leading the business development department of an enterprise SaaS provider and contributing to a food systems oriented true cost accounting standard. In his free time, Sebastian enjoys swimming, skiing, and reading.
