Ulrike Morgalla

Ulrike is a Junior Research Fellow at Net Zero Lab and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research Department at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich. Furthermore, she is a doctoral student at the Munich Graduate School of Economics.

Her research explores the intersection of environmental economics, green innovation, and technological change, with a focus on how policy and firm behavior shape the path toward a net-zero economy.

Ulrike holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Mannheim, including a semester abroad at the University of St. Andrews, and an M.Sc. in Economics from the London School of Economics, where she graduated with distinction. During the M.Sc. she specialised in Environmental and Resource Economics and wrote her Master Thesis on innovative responses to technological disasters.

Before starting her PhD, Ulrike gained research experience at leading institutions, including the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) and the ifo Institute where she worked on topics ranging from energy market design to climate policy and environmental insurance.

Ulrike loves running, skiing, and road biking, but you can win her over any day with a good cup of coffee and chocolate.
